Don’t Bite the Messenger

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of reading this novella. To be honest, I’m a bit burnt out on vampires and I was hesitant to read it not because I’d heard anything bad, but because I wasn’t sure I could handle more vampires.

I was wrong.

The vampires in this novella are scary. They are chilling and cold, and I don’t even trust the hero 100%. Most importantly, these vampires truly felt inhuman. I appreciated that.

dont-bite-the-messenger1Don’t Bite the MessengerĀ was a unique read for me. I have never been anywhere near Alaska, though I’d like to someday, so the setting was as alien and foreign to me as Mars. Yet, Regan Summers was able to paint the perfect setting in my mind. I felt as desolate as the landscape, while also being in awe. I could really feel for the characters as they worked this dangerous delivery job. The fact that Sydney has to keep dying her hair to keep her identity a secret was a nice touch.

Regan Summers is also an excellent writer, so that served as the icing on the cake!

I haven’t had a chance to read any of her other stories, but I definitely will in the future.
